About UNHCR Nansen Refugee Award

The Nansen Refugee Award was established in 1954, in memory of the first High Commissioner for Refugees, Fridjtof Nansen. The humanitarian honor is bestowed to individuals, groups and organizations who dedicate their lives to supporting people displaced from their homes by war and conflict. In 2017, for the first time in the Award's history, five runners-up to the Award were made public.
