About Aurora Prize for Awakening Humanity

Established at the 100th anniversary of the Armenian genocide the award is named after a survivor, Aurora Mardiganian, who as a child was forced to witness the deaths of family members. She devoted her life to raising awareness of the genocide and starred in a 1919 film called "Ravished Armenia". The winner gets 100.000 $. The 1 million $ prize money is intended to go to one or more organizations the winners identify as the inspirations for their work. http://www.nytimes.com/2015/03/10/world/middleeast/armenian-leaders-establish-rights-award-to-commemorate-centenary-of-genocide.html?_r=0
